JoAnn Ballinger
JoAnn M. Ballinger, 83, of Ft. Wright, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas. She was an extremely talented artist who studied at Northern Kentucky University and retired as an Art Teacher with Covington Public Schools. JoAnn was responsible for the initial Bulldog painting on the press box exterior of the Covington Holmes Football Stadium. Her artwork and murals can be found throughout the Covington Public School System’s hallways and cafeterias, along with Kings Mills Schools in Mason, OH. She preferred the whole wall or hallway over a piece of canvas. JoAnn was also very active in the 11th District PTA along with the Hill & Dale Homemaker's Group.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Gerald Ballinger; daughter, Linda (Daniel) Acheson; sisters, Betty Jo Collins, Donna Jean Mays; grandchildren, Jonathon M. (Caitlin McDermott) Acheson, Joseph D. Acheson, Jennifer (Brett) Townsend; great grandchildren, Rowan Elizabeth and Eloise Catherine Acheson and Amelia Jean-Louise Townsend.
Visitation is on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, from 4:00 PM until the hour of Service at 6:00 PM all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY.
Entombment in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, KY.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Holmes High School Art Department, 2500 Madison Ave, Covington, KY 41014.
