Listen to Obituary

Roger L. Laws, 87, of Hebron, KY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood. Roger was a beloved husband, father, grandpa ("Peepaw"), brother, friend, and proud member of his community. Known for his outgoing personality and his ability to never meet a stranger, Roger had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. He loved to joke around with people, enjoyed a good conversation, and lived life with a genuine enthusiasm that will be deeply missed.

Roger was a parishioner of Mary Queen of Heaven Church and served on the St. James Parish Council in previous years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith and commitment to his community were important parts of his life.

A lifelong and passionate Kentucky basketball fan, Roger was a devoted UK supporter whose love for the Wildcats became a special part of his life. His impressive collection of UK basketball memorabilia opened the door to many memorable friendships and opportunities to meet iconic Kentucky players and coaches, including Joe B. Hall and Tayshaun Prince. He was especially proud to host four reunions of former UK Wildcats basketball teams at his farm, bringing together players and coaches from Kentucky basketball history. His unbridled enthusiasm for the Wildcats was contagious.

Roger was also a hardworking businessman. He was the proud owner and operator of L&M Lawncare for 47 years, building a business that became a family tradition. His sons, Roger and Brian, now carry on the company he worked so hard to build. He also ran three successful video stores for many years with his wife, Carol. Roger also raised and sold cattle on his farm in Hebron.

Family was at the heart of Roger's life. He had an immense love for his wife, children, and grandchildren and took great pride in sharing their accomplishments. He was always willing to offer assistance at the drop of his Kentucky hat to help any of his family or friends who needed him. One of his favorite projects was recently restoring the 1960's convertibles he bought for each of his sons when they turned 16. He also loved antiquing and, ahead of his time, flipping houses with his wife and boys. Through those projects, he taught his children invaluable skills and created countless memories along the way.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Carol Laws; sons, Roger (Rhonda), Keith (Kathy), and Brian (Laura) Laws; brothers, Jess (Elsie) and Daryl (Debbie) Laws; sister, Zetta Lee Cirivello; grandchildren, Ryan, Andrew, Corinne, Tyler, Allison, and Kate Laws and Rylie (Dilan) Woody.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Zetta Laws, and brothers, Clyde and Ronald Laws.

Visitation will take place on Friday, September 4th from 3:30 PM until the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 5:30 PM, all at Mary Queen of Heaven Church, 1150 Donaldson Highway, Erlanger, KY 41018. The family is asking everyone attending to honor his memory by wearing their favorite UK apparel or Kentucky blue.

Interment in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery, Hebron, Kentucky.

Family and Friends are invited to Prospect Point Clubhouse following Mass to continue to celebrate Roger's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to The Point Arc of Northern Kentucky or the charity of your choice.

Roger's legacy will live on not only through the businesses and projects he built, but through the family he loved so dearly and the many people whose lives he touched. His humor, generosity, hard work, and larger-than-life personality will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
