Robert "Bob" Lewis Redix, 97, of Edgewood, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1928, in Grant County-Hethern Ridge, to Robert Lee Redix and Ella Mae Redix. Bob was a dedicated fireman for the Covington Fire Department for 21 years and a beloved member of his community.
Bob served proudly in the United States Army, embodying the values of loyalty and service throughout his life. He was on the Army Football Team who played in the Vittles Bowl in Frankfurt, Germany where he scored the game winning touchdown. Bob's career as a fireman was marked by his commitment to helping others, further underscoring his loving and kindhearted nature. Bob was always willing to lend a hand, and those who knew him cherished his unwavering support and generosity.
Above all else, Bob loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Randall Redix (BJ), Deborah Oberschlake (Paul), Jana Baker (Dennis), and Rita Stone (Danny), 9 grandchildren including William Stone (Meghan) and Mary Kennedy (Jimmy) who lovingly served as his caretakers, 10 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, who carry forward his legacy of love and devotion.
Bob was an avid golfer and bowler, finding great joy in the camaraderie, competition, and friendships that came with both. Equally important to him was his lifelong dedication to Central Church of the Nazarene, where he faithfully served as a board member and continued working until his retirement at the age of 80. His service was a true reflection of his character—rooted in generosity, commitment, and love for others. Bob leaves behind treasured memories of laughter, kindness, and enduring companionship that will continue to resonate with all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Magdalene Redix, as well as a son, Wayne Redix, a daughter, Karen Redix, and his sisters, Joann Kennedy, Marcella Hensley and Marilyn Ford who cherished their time him. The loss is profound, but his spirit and the memories shared will remain in the hearts of his loved ones forever.
In his own words, Bob’s lasting wish was, “for his family and friends to grow to a ripe old age and take care of and love each other!"
Visitation will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to the hour of Service at 12:00 PM all in Central Church of the Nazarene, 2006 Pieck Dr, Fort Wright, KY 41011.
Interment in Highland Cemetery.
