Robert Epperson, a dedicated dispatch clerk for the City of Ludlow Police Department for an impressive 50 years, has passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Born in Covington, Kentucky, on January 5th, 1940, Robert leaves behind a legacy marked by his unwavering commitment to public service and a deep love for his community.
Throughout his five decades of service as a dispatch clerk, Bob touched the lives of many through his hard work and dedication. His impact extended beyond the walls of the police department as he also actively participated in various community activities. Robert's career was not just a job; it was a calling that he fulfilled with honor and excellence.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was known for his love of knothole basketball and baseball, showcasing his passion for sports. As a member of the Ludlow HOBO Club, he found camaraderie and friendship with like-minded individuals. After long days of serving his community, Bob could occasionally be found unwinding at the Buffalo Bar in Ludlow, enjoying moments of relaxation and laughter with friends.
A devoted family man, Bob cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His presence brought joy and warmth to family gatherings, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his granddaughters, Amanda (Brian) Castleberry, Misty (Michael) Green; grandson, Brian Green; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Lilly, Elijah, Paisley, Zayden; daughter-in-law, Teri Mergard; sister, Beverley Epperson, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Herrmann; son, Martin Green; brother, Dale Epperson; sister, Mary Etta Deininger and parents, Bert and Mary Jane Epperson.
Visitation is Friday, February 23, 2024, from 3:00PM until the hour of Memorial Service at 5:00PM all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41016.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Ludlow High School Athletics,150 Adela Avenue, Ludlow, KY 41016.
