Paul Leo Modzelewski

Paul Modzelewski, 80, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on September 13, 1944, in Chicago Heights, Illinois. Paul lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to family, a passion for adventure, and a love of sports and the outdoors. Paul shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Roslyn. Together they built a life centered around family and exploration, traveling the world side by side and creating memories that spanned continents. Their bond was one of deep companionship and shared joy.

Paul was a proud father to three daughters: Monica Minogue (Marty), Melanie Beccaccio (Pete), and Melissa Adams (Brian). Paul took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. His role as a grandfather brought him particular delight; he was a constant presence in the lives of his grandchildren—Catherine, Paul, Alexander, Martin Leo, Sam, Olivia, and Sophie—cheering them on in all their pursuits with enthusiasm. Paul is also remembered fondly by his sister Elaine Mulderink and brothers Dan Modzelewski and Mike Modzelewski.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Priscilla Modzelewski.

A former marathon runner, cyclist, and hiker, he remained committed to an energetic lifestyle well into his later years. Golf became one of his favorite pastimes at a young age, a passion he carried throughout his life. Whether at home or on vacation—or while visiting Elaine—he found great enjoyment in playing cards with loved ones. A lifelong fan of the Cubs and Bears, Paul's loyalty to his hometown Chicago teams never wavered. His enthusiasm for sports extended beyond spectatorship; it was part of how he connected with others. Paul's legacy is one of love—for family, for movement and discovery, for tradition—and for being present in the lives of those he held dear.

A celebration of Paul’s life will be held later this year, to share our favorite memories and celebrate the joy he brought to all of our lives. No formal funeral service will be held.
