Hebron,

Listen to Obituary

Patricia Anne Lister, 90, of Laguna Niguel, CA, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at her son’s residence in Hebron, KY. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and matriarch of the Lister, Bright, Trudeau, Andrews, and Massa families. Born on November 4, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Patricia had a successful career as an Accountant and Administrative Manager with the County of Orange, California. She accomplished a lot and improved every Department she worked for. She retired early and became an Orange County Realtor, where her keen insight and attention to detail won her the loyalty and admiration of clients and colleagues alike.

Her commitment to her professional life was complemented by her active membership in several esteemed organizations, including the California Association of Realtors, the National Association of Realtors, the Orange County Board of Realtors, the Riviera Club, the American Society of Women Accountants, and the Cypress Junior Women’s Club. In the 1960s, Patricia was the President and co-founder of the Cypress Junior Women’s Club, a philanthropic organization that hosted events. While she was President, the Cypress Community College had just finished its first buildings and needed a keynote speaker for the grand opening inauguration. They called on the only philanthropic entity in Cypress, California to give the keynote address at the ceremony. Patricia stepped up to the plate and gave a funny speech, starting with saying she had wanted to call in sick to avoid giving the speech, but she didn't do it.

In 1967, when she turned 30, Patricia enrolled in Cypress Community College, where she had previously given the inaugural opening address. In January 1972, she graduated with honors from Cal State University Fullerton, majoring in business, with an accounting emphasis. Her parents and all six sons were at the graduation ceremony. The Dean of Business pointed out her accomplishments, much to her surprise. He asked her whole family to stand up and be honored during the ceremony.

It was not just in her professional and community pursuits that Patricia shone; she was the unwavering heart of her family. She met her husband, Jim Lister, at a pancake breakfast given by the Cypress Junior Women’s Club. She was a single mother with four boys; he was a single father of two boys. After they married, she kept her six sons and their families, extended family, and cherished family friends bound together through her exceptional cooking,

lavish Sunday night dinners, family vacations, and the much-loved holiday traditions that she meticulously curated over the years.

Patricia showed her family that love is best expressed through shared meals, laughter, and time spent together. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and joy where memories were crafted and echoed long after they were made.

Patricia is survived by her loving family, who will carry forward her legacy of love and togetherness. She leaves behind her son, Steve (Tammy) Lister of Canyon Lake, CA; daughter-in-law Tisa Aley Lister of Norco, CA; sons Jim (Muree) Bright of Carmichael, CA; John (Magdalena) Bright of Mission Viejo, CA; and Bob (Taffy) Bright of Hebron, KY. She also cherished her grandchildren: Ashley Tanger, Stephen Lister, Jordan Lister, Skyler Lister Aley, Devany Lister Aley, Annabelle Bright, Jonathan Bright, Ronnie Bright, Katie Bright, Isabella Bright, Josphine Bright, and Novell Bright, and great-grandchild Kai Tanger. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband James Lister and sons, John Lister and Ron Bright.

Her Funeral Mass will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 29102 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel, CA 92677; (949) 249-4091; Friday. January 2, 2026, at 10am.
