Mary Sue Palmer, 73, of Ludlow, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Christ Hospital.

Mary spent many years working as a file clerk for the IRS, and anyone who knew her knew how organized, hardworking, and reliable she was. After retiring, she really settled into the things she loved. She could sit for hours working on a jigsaw puzzle, and she never turned down a chance for a fall road trip to see the changing leaves. She had a soft spot for hawks, too—she was always pointing them out whenever she spotted one.

Mary was a loving mom and grandma. She leaves behind her sons, Jesse Palmer of Crittenden and Jason Palmer; and her daughter, Jennifer Palmer of Ludlow; her grandson, CJ Palmer; and her brother, Jim Shook of Owensboro, KY.

She’s now reunited with her husband, Frank Palmer; her sisters, Barbara and Diane Shook; brother, Michael Shook and her parents, Mildred and Quentin Shook.

Mary will be remembered for her warmth, her easy smile, and how deeply she cared for the people in her life. She didn’t need grand gestures—she showed her love in the everyday moments, and that’s what will be missed the most.

Inurnment will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Kentucky.

We’ll miss her more than words can say, but we’re grateful for all the memories she leaves behind.
