Mary Wanda Ellison

Mary Wanda Ellison, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished sister, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice. Born on August 10, 1938, in Somerset, Kentucky, Mary’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and a fiery spirit that resonated in everyone she met.

As a dedicated homemaker, Mary created a warm and welcoming home filled with cherished memories. She always loved spending time with family, instilling in her loved ones the importance of connection and the joy of togetherness. Her brightness and vivacity were infectious, lighting up every room she entered and every heart she touched.

Mary is survived by her devoted daughter, Stephanie Handerman, who carries forward her mother’s spirit of warmth and kindness. She also leaves behind her brother, Laurel Dick, who remembers her as a bright light in his life. Her legacy continues through her granddaughters, Amanda McAllister and Anna Mays, who treasure the values and love their grandmother imparted to them. The joy of Mary's life will be carried on through her great-grandchildren, Juniper McAllister, Roslyn Mays, Jack Mays, and Charlotte Mays, who will forever remember her with smiles and warmth.

In addition to her immediate family, Mary is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews who held her dear in their hearts. They will always carry forward the fond memories and cherished moments shared with her.

Mary was predeceased by her late husband, Thomas Ellison, whose memory she cherished throughout her life. She also joins her siblings, Bobbinett Westerkamm, Marlene Westerkamm, Bootsie Rakel, and Lee Long, in eternal rest. Their lives together were marked by love, laughter, and a deep familial bond that can never be broken.

As we celebrate Mary’s life, we remember her as a spirited woman whose legacy of love and devotion will continue to shine through her family and friends. Though she has left this earthly realm, her light will forever guide the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
