Larry Allen Simons, born on October 30, 1962, in Covington, Kentucky, left this world on August 31, 2025, at the VA Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories. A devoted son, brother, and uncle, Larry was known for his steadfast character and warm-hearted nature.
Larry graduated from Holmes High School, after which he embarked on a career as a Pipe Cutter at Lally Pipe and Tube, demonstrating a strong work ethic that mirrored his commitment to his family and community. His military service in the United States Army highlighted his dedication to his country, showcasing the integrity and discipline that defined him throughout his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Larry found joy in hunting and fishing. He had a passion for collecting guns and coins, pursuits that brought him great satisfaction. Additionally, Larry cherished the moments he spent with loved ones during family vacations to the Smoky Mountains, where he delighted in hiking and immersing himself in nature’s beauty. His beloved dog, Jake, was a constant companion and a source of comfort and joy in his life.
Larry is survived by his mother, Opal Mae Iles; his brothers, Jeff Iles and Jason Iles; and his uncle, Ronald Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Leroy Simons Jr., and his uncle, Donald Smith.
A visitation to honor Larry’s life will take place on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home in Ludlow, Kentucky. This will be followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on the same day at the same location.
Larry Allen Simons will be remembered for his generous spirit, his love for the outdoors, and the deep connections he forged with those around him. His absence will be felt profoundly, but his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
