Joseph "Joe" F. Roesel, 82 of Crestview Hills, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born on August 16, 1942, in Covington, Kentucky, Joe lived a life rich in love, laughter, and service.
Joe began his career as the Vice President of Finance at St. Elizabeth Hospital, a role he held for many years before transitioning to the Business Manager of Radiology Associates of Northern Kentucky. He was not only a dedicated professional but also a proud member of the Thomas More University Hall of Fame, having earned both his undergraduate degree from Thomas More and a Master’s degree from Xavier University. His passion for education and community service was reflected in his long-standing commitment as a member of the Board of Trustees at Thomas More University, as well as his years of service on the Villa Hills City Council & Crestview Hills City Council.
For over 50 years, Joe was a cherished member of Summit Hills Country Club, where he served as a dedicated board member for 25 years. He embodied the values of community and service. A man of many interests, Joe dedicated more than 30 years to serving as a 9th Region Basketball Official. He attended numerous sporting, dance and theatrical events to support his children and grandchildren, who participated as actors, athletes, coaches, and officials. Joe’s love for golf was evident in his exceptional skills, particularly as a talented putter.
Joe will be remembered for his humor, generosity, and selflessness. He had a special way of making those around him feel valued and loved. His proudest accomplishments are the time spent with his beloved wife of 58 years, Ellen Roesel, and their four outstanding children: Joe (Patty) Roesel, Pat (Amy) Roesel, Julie (Sean) Belton, and Laura (Michael) Sanders. The joy he found in his family extended to their eleven super-grandchildren: Lindsay Roesel, Josh Roesel, Andrew Belton, Timothy Belton, Allison Belton, Brennin Sanders, Taya Sanders, Aiden Sanders, Peter Roesel, Kate Roesel, and Ty Roesel. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Estelle Roesel.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Gertrude Roesel and his brother, Earl Roesel.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 3:00 PM to the hour of Mass of Christian Burial at 5:00 PM, all taking place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2470 Lorraine Court, Crescent Springs, Kentucky. Following the Mass, friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at Summit Hills Country Club, starting at 6:15 PM.
Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
