Joan “Joanie” Carol Hagedorn, (July 18, 1958, to May 16, 2025,) age 66 of Ludlow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home under the care of St. Elizabeth Hospice; succumbing to cancer she fought for eleven years.
Joanie was a 1976 graduate of Holy Cross High School, a long-time employee at Western Southern Life Insurance, a member of the Ludlow Fire Department Auxiliary, a member of Ludlow Schools PTA where she served as President for eight years, a member of the Red Hats, and was involved in the Concerned Citizens of Ludlow. Joanie delighted in singing in the Western Southern employee choir during the Christmas season and in singing the national anthem with the choir at the Reds Game. She was an avid yard sale shopper, a voracious reader, and totally devoted to her sweet dog Bree.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Wm.Terry Hagedorn of Ludlow, KY, her son, Danny Hagedorn (Nicole) of Liberty Township, OH, and her grandchildren, Hudson Hagedorn and Penelope Hagedorn both of Liberty Township, OH. She is also survived by her brothers, Mike Meyer (Enola) of Covington, KY, Dave Meyer (Marianne) of Erlanger, KY; sisters, Joyce Meyer of Ludlow, KY, Lori Sims of Ft. Wright, KY, and stepsister, Kay Sheperd (Don) of Batavia, OH, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Joanie was preceded in death by her parents, Dick Meyer and Jean Meyer Ryder; sisters Jeanie Berlund and Teri Meyer; and stepsisters, Pat Gregg, Ginny Korb, and Pam Figart.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. with mass of Christian burial immediately following at 11:30 A.M all in Sts. Boniface and James Church, 304 Oak Street, Ludlow, KY 41016. Joanie requested that everyone wear her favorite color purple to the visitation and mass.
