Iva Lou Poynter, 83, a beloved homemaker and cherished member of her family, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in Crestview Hills, Kentucky. She was born on September 25, 1942, in Ruth, Kentucky, a small town that nurtured her loving spirit and close family ties.
Iva's life was marked by her devotion to her family and her passion for various hobbies. As a dedicated homemaker, she created a warm and welcoming environment for her loved ones and took great pride in nurturing her family. Iva had a unique talent for bringing people together, often engaging in activities that sparked joy and laughter. She found pleasure in playing online games and enjoyed the challenges that crossword puzzles presented, often sharing her skills and enthusiasm with those around her.
Iva is survived by her loving daughter, Donna Lee Poynter Krumpelman, and her sisters, Dean Phelps Pittman and Victoria Phelps O'Brien, grandchildren, Shayne (Megan) Martin, Austin Martin, Megan (Jonny) Poynter Kitts, Trey (Kaitlyn) Martin, and Madison (Brandon) Poynter Beebe, 3 great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and many nieces and nephews, who will carry on her legacy of love and kindness. She was predeceased by her husband, James Michael Poynter; her daughter, Leslie Diane Poynter Martin; her parents, Kellis and Nellie Phelps; and her siblings, Billy Phelps, Bobby Phelps, Dewey Phelps, Harold Phelps, Jimmy Phelps, Marcie Phelps Wilburn, and Wanda Phelps Mosley, all of whom she cherished deeply.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, from 3:00 PM to the hour of Service at 5:00 PM all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, Kentucky 41016.
Interment in Clay Hill Cemetery on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 465 Clay Hill Road, Somerset, Kentucky 42501.

The lives Iva touched through her warmth, resilience, and unwavering support will be remembered fondly by her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
