Charles "Chuck" W. Herald,58, of Ludlow, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on May 10, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio. Chuck's warmth and character left a deep impression on those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Throughout his life, Chuck was dedicated to his family. He cherished the moments spent rocking the babies, demonstrating the love and joy he found in nurturing the next generation. Chuck’s devotion extended beyond his home; he was actively involved in his community as a Ludlow Youth Football Booster and coach, helping many young athletes develop their skills and confidence on the field.
Professionally, Chuck found fulfillment as the owner of a successful painting business for many years and served as a Correctional Officer at the Kenton County Detention Center, showcasing his commitment to service. He also honored his country as a proud member of the United States Navy, embodying the values of duty and sacrifice.
In addition to his professional and familial commitments, Chuck enjoyed an array of hobbies. He was an avid camper and often found joy in poker games with friends. A devoted sports fan, he passionately supported the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Indiana Pacers, often engaging in spirited discussions about his favorite teams.
Chuck was a member of the Masons Golden Rule Lodge, further highlighting his dedication to community and brotherhood. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and commitment.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Darla Herald of 30 years, and their two sons, Douglas (Monica) Herald and Corbin (Brooklynn) Herald and 2 grandchildren, Asher and Adeline. Chuck is also remembered by his brother, Benjamin Herald. He joins his parents, Benjamin and MaryAnn Herald, as well as his siblings, Holbert Herald, Charlotte Herald, and Chinisty Herald, who predeceased him.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the family's convenience.
Chuck’s life was a remarkable tapestry of love, dedication, and heartfelt connections. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire those he touched during his time on this earth.
