Barbara Baxter

Barbara Baxter “Barbie Dear,” 78 of Fort Mitchell, KY and Lakewood Ranch, FL, a beloved educator and cherished matriarch, passed away on November 29, 2025, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Born on February 9, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky, Barbara exemplified a life dedicated to learning, family, and community service.

With a master’s degree in education, Barbara made a profound impact in her career as a teacher within the Northern Kentucky School System. And while serving as a University of Kentucky Extension Agent with the 4H program. Barbara also had a passion for music and playing the ukulele, which she enjoyed sharing with others, most notably her granddaughters.

Barbara spent most of her life in Kentucky but enjoyed her last few years as a resident of Florida, a lifelong dream of hers.

Barb took immense pleasure in spending time with her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her son, Chris (Karra) Baxter of Hillsborough, NC; her daughter, Teal (Spencer) Graeter of Louisville, KY; her brother, Kent (Pam) Marcum; her brother-in-law, Rill (Ellie) Baxter; her sisters-in-law, Janica Johnson and Lark Baxter; grandchildren, Jackson Graeter, Gracie Graeter, Wyatt Graeter, Clover Baxter, Rubee Baxter; nieces and nephews, Kelly Harper, Todd Johnson, Trinian Mitchell, Bonnie Kellogg, Trevor Baxter, Hunter Baxter and Lillie Baxter; many amazing cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends. She loved them all fiercely.

Barb was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raoul Baxter, as well as her parents, Hershel and Mary Elizabeth Marcum.

Barbara's legacy of love, education, and community will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched, and her warm, loving, and positive personality will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be Friday, December 12 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm until the hour of Service at 5:00pm all in Lakeside Presbyterian Church,

Interment will be on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00am at Highland Cemetery, Ft Mitchell, Kentucky.

Family and friends are invited to reception following the services from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at a friend’s home in Fort Mitchell.
