Listen to Obituary

Ann Jeanette Eickhoff (nee: Gettelfinger), 69, of Fort Mitchell, passed peacefully from this life on October 16, 2025, at her home in the arms of her loving husband.

Ann was born on October 15, 1956, in Covington, Kentucky, to Harold Joseph Gettelfinger and Juanita (Mulvey) Gettelfinger. She was raised in Villa Hills and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. Ann completed her high school education at Turkeyfoot Junior High School and Dixie Heights High School, graduating in 1974. After high school, Ann worked at the Cincinnati Enquirer in the Circulation department in a secretarial position for a couple of years before focusing her attention on marriage, homemaking, and child rearing. When her children were attending elementary school, she returned to the workforce by working various part-time jobs that allowed her to be home when the children were released from school. About ten years post-high school, Ann attended classes at Northern Kentucky University in the Psychology Department as a result of her keen interest in childhood education. Over the breadth of her working years, her places of employment included: Cincinnati Enquirer, J.B. Corbett Agency, GreyStone Concrete, Flottman Company, Gloria Dei Lutheran Preschool, and various temporary agency positions, including Procter & Gamble and Kenner.

Ann was at heart a teacher. After preparing her two children for the academic world they would enter at Beechwood Elementary School, Ann continued her teaching efforts in other areas. She led small group sessions of Magic Circle at Beechwood Elementary School. Ann taught pre-school aged children at Gloria Dei Lutheran Preschool for many years. Also, Ann taught Bible study classes both at Lakeside Christian Church and out of her home for adult women's groups.

Ann was a vivacious, outgoing, and socially graceful woman who genuinely loved people. This love for others naturally attracted others to her. She was a friend to all who were fortunate to know her in this life.

Ann loved to sing and was blessed with a special gift for it. Friends and acquaintances sought her out to have her sing at their weddings. Ann always agreed to help celebrate their special day. She participated in church plays and Beechwood fundraising productions. In every church Ann regularly attended, she was a member of their choir, as she loved to sing praises to the Lord.

Ann loved being in church. Whether it was St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bromley Christian Church, Lakeside Christian Church, Immanuel Church, or others, they all delighted her when she was there with other believers praising God for His perfect love.

Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and was forever praying for their well-being and happiness. Ann was accomplished at all things domestic: she was a terrific cook, she provided a spotless home for all who would enter it, she was masterful at managing the family resources, and she did it all with a smile. As a faithful, loving wife and best friend to her husband David, she was truly a gift. Hers was a life well lived.

Ann was a member of Immanuel Church in Lakeside Park.

Ann is survived by her husband of 49 1/2 years, David Eickhoff; her daughter, Carrie (Joe) Christofield; son, Bobby (Sara) Eickhoff; grandchildren, Will Christofield, Ellie Christofield, Hayden Eickhoff, Serena Eickhoff, Kayley Eickhoff, and Elijah Eickhoff; sisters, Kathy (David) Manning, Mary (Buddy) Sawyer, and Denise Gettelfinger; and brother, Joe (Sharon) Gettelfinger.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Gettelfinger and Juanita (Mulvey) Gettelfinger.

Ann was kind, humble, generous, happy, loving, and a joy to be around. She did not insist on her own way but graciously placed the needs of others ahead of her own. The world is a far better place for her having been in it. To those who knew her, Ann provided a beautiful example of genuine happiness and Christian love. She was, and remains, the love of David's life.
