Alan Thistleton, 64 of Ft. Wright, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2023, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Alan also proudly served in the Coast Guard during his lifetime. His dedication to serving his country and protecting others was a testament to his selflessness and courage. Alan had an unwavering love for animals. He was an avid animal lover, especially for his cats, who cared deeply for every creature that crossed his path. Animals seemed to sense his kind heart as they flocked towards him, eagerly seeking his affection. Music held a special place in Alan's heart. It was an escape that brought him immense joy and solace throughout his life. Regardless of the genre, he found beauty in every melody and lyric. Alan's artistic spirit extended beyond music; he himself was a talented artist. Alan also had an amazing sense of humor. He frequently sent cat memes to his nieces and nephews and was always ready with a quick-witted answer to a question. One of the nurses was doing an initial evaluation of him and asked him if he drank alcohol. His immediate response was, “What are you offering?” Alan's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who were fortunate to know him. However, his legacy of kindness, love, and compassion will forever remain in their hearts. His memory will be cherished by all who were touched by his warm smile and gentle spirit. In a final act of giving, Alan chose to be an organ donor. Even in death, he continued to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Through his selflessness, he was able to give the gift of life to 75 to 100 individuals, leaving an indelible mark on the world.
Alan's family meant the world to him. He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones and always made an effort to bring joy into their lives. He is preceded in death by his father, Paul Thistleton (6/7/2022). Survivors include his loving mother, Alida Thistleton; sisters, Adele (David) Gormley of Union, Anne (Frans) Bicker Caarten of Park City, Utah, Ruth (Ed) Walton of Goshen, KY; nieces and nephews, Micheal (Alexis), Nicole, and Lindsay (Landon) Walton, Charlie and Emma Bicker Caarten and Alex (Alissa), Sam and Luke Gormley.
